For the subsequent hour – all we acquired was one shark after the other – all within the 2 to three ft measurement range. Decided to get away from the sharks – so set course for the inlet just earlier than noontime. With 15 extra miles to the inlet, we noticed a pair flying fish in some extensively scattered weeds at about 85 ft deep. We put out the baits once more and wound up getting this purple snapper on the ballyhoo/sea witch rig ! Was using a 1/Four ounce pink jig head with a big stay shrimp w/tail fin eliminated (hooked backwards).

Port Canaveral Dolphin & Tripletail

The “gettin-her-wet” fishing journey became a camping trip with the RV to Jetty Park and a trolling trip for five teenagers for my sons 19th bday. I was glad to ablige. Headed out first mild even with the climate questionable however have been greeted with respectable seas. Hit the sting of the stream moist the primary line and was hit with the rod in my hand earlier than I might get into the rod holder. No jumping equaled a bonita but shortly picked up the primary small dolphin. After a sluggish troll and a weakening rip determined to go deeper solely to seek out a fantastic rip, shade change and weeds where we had greater than 15 knock downs, including a tripletail and 10 dolphin in the box. Nothing large but the boys liked it and we had some restocking materials for the freezer.

The AJ’s Tuesday have been principally just over the min measurement, however with hardly a worm in them have been great for the icebox. With a pair kids onboard not large enough to deal with the AJ’s, we finished the day on shallower structure so they might have some fun. We obtained Cobia this manner, not large however large enough to take house! Wednesday was much less productive. While we did battle numerous fish, extra brief AJ’s, Cuda and Shark that anything.

Ponce Inlet Shock

Florida Sportsman member: Docked Wages

Not a fantastic weekend for fishing however we managed to get out for a number of hours Saturday morning and again Sunday afternoon.

Saturday we ran out of Sebastian on the Head Hunter to troll for dolphin and found it to be sluggish because of the cold water. The temps have been lower than 72 levels all the best way out to 180’ and there we launched a number of peanuts before landing an nice 18 pounder. We put him on ice and headed in to look for cobia but the 66 degree water inside was not conducive to hold fish so we made and early day of. Again on the ramp the FWC man checked our fish field and found another peanut on ice with our catch. Seeing no pores and skin on this one he gave us a move as this fish was regurgitated from the stomach of the bigger dolphin. Simply goes to point out that every little thing eats a dolphin, even other dolphin.

Sunday appeared like actual good cobia weather till we decided to go at 1 pm. After getting on the water round 2pm the wind shifted and started to increase. We chased some free swimmers around till the clouds moved in. As the afternoon advanced, the winds elevated and it started to get sporty and wet for a flats boat. Robust circumstances for sight fishing so we made an early afternoon of it and came residence for cobia St Patty dinner.

Holy Pompano!

Doug Gabbert sent on this report of an offshore fishing deal with, a monster African pompano, nice catch!

Fischer and I fished the mullet faculties all day Saturday for trout, reds and snook. Fischer stated he needed to catch a “big” fish offshore on Sunday, so, we loaded the boat with 4 20 pound Shimano Baitrunners and headed out the Sebastian Inlet early Sunday morning. We found a number of good pods of greenies off Disney Vero, crammed up the reside nicely and headed in the direction of Bethel Shoal to see what we might find. We pulled up on the #10 buoy on the shoal – there were four other boats fishing round it. Fischer tossed a greenie off the bow and virtually instantly a faculty of huge African pompano blew the greenie out of the water. The greenie made a mad dash for the boat, but the fish within the picture was quicker and ate the bait right beside the boat. The fish actually hit the aspect of the boat whereas consuming the greenie!

The struggle was on. We chased the fish around for a half hour, it gave us some really smoking runs however Fischer was finally capable of get it to the aspect of the boat. I did not need to gaff it, we did not need to kill it, so I placed on gloves and was capable of get it within the boat after a couple tries. The fish was gassed, so it did not put up much struggle on the boat. We snapped a fast image, then Fischer revived the fish and watched it swim away. Not a nasty first forged and Fischer received his want for an enormous fish!
