Identical to the day before today, the winds fell about 1:00 so we ran and picked my younger son and went out to Seahorse Reef. The Spanish mackerel didn’t cheat and provided the crew lots of motion once I obtained the bait. My older son drew an excellent-sized shark that gave me a couple of minutes of pleasure till the 20 check leaders gave their means. Once I obtained a number of greens, a bit of blue runner and an ankle stone, we went in the direction of the reef to seek out one thing greater. It didn't take lengthy for us to get some attraction, but nothing needed to stay hooked. I started to get somewhat annoyed by dropping fish when out of the blue one of many rods that had been hooked up to a dwelling green was bent and pulled out to shout. My older son grabbed the rod and the battle was on. After a number of runs, the fish was tired and I was capable of immerse the gaff in a big fish, which I might anticipate to be almost 4 meters long. I ran out of green, so I ran / ran slowly some pinfish behind the boat. I feel they received too close to the bottom as a result of the subsequent two fish have been guard-sized, 25 and 27 inches. We put each back on and informed them to return again to see us after June 1. We stopped again the day once we trawled Rapala Magnums and the youngest I acquired a smaller king who made it into a fishing box.

Florida Sportsman member: fishy tales

It has been a while since I posted any studies, so I figured it was time to do so. I will inform you this, the weatherman lies. Calling for two to 3 foot seas, a superb boating day, yeah right. It was extra like 5 to 6 foot seas winds blowing 15 to 18 knots. Bounded and decided we made our solution to the 50 foot vary in quest of pink grouper.

“Ruff Water Cobia”

Florida Sportsman member: Ruff One

The climate man was half proper at present. Morning forecast was for 10mph or much less-fallacious–extra like 15mph and blowing fixed. The seas have been indignant and made fishing in my boat a chore. Afternoon forecast was for the winds to lay down they usually have been proper on. Since it was howling this morning, we determined to hit the primary shallow water structure we might find. Settled on some areas in 12 ft. Determined to not anchor, so we made some drifts. On the second drift, Mrs. Ruff One hollers over the wind–right here comes a cobe, and she or he’s attached […]

HSB Offshore

Florida Sportsman member: RORY

Acquired out early. Caught bait on the final channel marker and headed offshore at 30 mph by dawn. Nice day on the water! We attached with a number of AJs on stay bait then switched to a 9″ topwater plug. As i received the AJ near the boat 2 goliaths and a couple of small sharks came after it. I’m positive this AJ would have been toast if i didnt have 65 lb braid and an 80 lb chief. Luckily I obtained the fish shut enough to the boat that they misplaced interest. Water temp was 75 in 55′!

Grouper Father and Son Type

Florida Sportsman member: troutman57

My son is here visiting from the Keys and mother nature provided up an ideal day to point out off a few of Homosassa’s well-known grouper fishing. Kyle and I hit the water at eight:30 after saying whats up to Salty Dawg we ran out 30 miles to 45 ft of water. On the best way out we observed the suspended layer of algae from 15 ft all the best way out to the place we began in 45 ft. We used the Minn Kota as an anchor and dropped minimize bait on Carolina rigs and the grouper didn’t disappoint!

Lovely Day to Chase Cobia

Florida Sportsman member: Ruff One

Seas have been flat, wind was good, water temps. are on the rise, it was one good day to chase the brown bombers. We had determined to go out and fish a wreck in 25 ft. however on the best way we might hit some good construction spots . First stop Mrs. Ruff One hooks up, and after a couple of runs, gets off. Next I join and of all issues, the brand new circle hook breaks in half, fish gone! Finally Gail boats one and it’s 1/4 in. brief! Oh nicely, we transfer on and head out to our last destination […]

Misdemeanors and Felonies

Florida Sportsman member: keypond

Everybody thinks of sheepshead as convicts, because they steal a number of shrimp, however I’ve come to the conclusion, shrimp theft is simply a misdemeanor compared to the felonies the AJ’s have committed upon my deal with and wallet this yr. And there was the plan for the day, take the family and the neighbors out to affiliate with both recognized criminals and hopefully invite a number of over for dinnner […]
